Hotel, Motel, Holiday INN

I love the idea of a bed & breakfast although I have yet to stay in one. BnB’s can be luxurious but I

would choose to stay in one that has charm and eclectic character.
Lately, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of Airbnb. If you’re unfamiliar with the service, this is how
it works – a normal person like you and I rent out their cute space while they’re away or rent out their
rooms while they stay. Some also have separate apartments strictly for renting out. Although most
places aren’t equip with concierge services, Airbnb is an economical alternative to brand name hotels.
On their website, they have travel guides (but you can find a place anywhere in the world!). Living in
New York, I wouldn’t want to vacation anywhere that’s a bustling city and/or cold temperatures so my
travel destinations will almost always include a beach and serenity. I chose Urca, a small town within
Rio de Janeiro, as my wanderlust city of choice.

I mean look at this view! Amazing. Sugarloaf Mountain nestled right behind Guanabara Bay is the best
of both worlds. Urca is the perfect juxtaposition between urban city life and retreat. There’s plenty to do – Carnival and World Cup are the obvious tourist attractions – and plenty to eat!

I would be happy to stay anywhere in this neighborhood, but here are my top two dream stays:

Urca

Both have scenic views and are full of color – exactly what you would expect from Brazil. They’re close to eateries, bars, shopping, the beach – you name it.

Since these properties are in someone else’s home, it’s important you maintain a certain level of decency during your stay i.e. don’t trash the place like a Vegas hotel and don’t eat breakfast in your undies, unless of course your host is ok with that.

But in case they aren’t, I’ve got you covered (pun intended). Shop these cozy and adorable loungewear options below:

Got a bad case of wanderlust, too? Sign up for Airbnb and get $25 off your first stay!
