A few weeks ago I attended a holiday shopping party at the Rebecca Minkoff store in SoHo in conjunction with GLAMSQUAD. There was champagne galore…oh! and makeup applications and hair-touch ups as well. At the end of the night, one of the associates took down our information to get a free blowout courtesy of GLAMSQUAD. GLAMSQUAD is basically Uber for hair and makeup. Sign up, book your service, and they will be at your home in no time. Unfortunately, they don’t service my area so I got invited to go to their training salon in Chelsea, which was a nice treat.
I was hesitant initially, as I usually am when getting my hair done by a stranger. But my hair was blown out to perfection. Since I have kinky-curly hair, it needs a little extra TLC but the stylist Marcus Hebert worked his magic. He took his time and understood the needs of textured hair. For anyone with thick hair, I would recommend you personally request his services.
Marcus used Kératase products on my hair including Keratine Thermique, a creamy leave-in used before blowouts, and Elixir Ultime, a light serum used pre-flat ironing – both of which I loved on my texture.
I went to the salon after work and I ended up being the only client there, a nice touch to make me feel like it was a private session. But you can have your own private session in the comfort of your own home. Download the app and save $20 off your first booking. An at home treatment for just $30? You can’t beat that.
Also, friends if you’re reading this, don’t ask me to go anywhere this week. I’m not sweating out my blowout.
