Urban Outfitters’ Space 98 in Williamsburg hosted the launch party for Champion Select, a collaboration with designers Wood Wood, Timo Weiland, and Craig Green.
The Champion Select collection includes elevated, fashion‐forward active wear looks for men and women utilizing heritage Champion fabrications and branding. Each of the designers began their process by visiting the Champion archives for inspiration, and selecting their favorite fabrications to use for their capsule collections. The resulting looks are inspired by the designers’ own memories and interactions with the iconic brand – whether it was wearing Champion as a youth or seeing classic imagery and advertisements from the past.
“For over thirty years, Champion has introduced creative and innovative designs for athletic wear, from performance to lifestyle, starting with the first sports bra and the iconic reverse weave hoodie,” said Ned Munroe, Chief Global Design Officer, Champion Athleticwear.

There were cocktails, beer, and passed hors douvers all night and a DJ to keep the party flowing.
The collection really plays into the ’90s trend. Think the scene in Clueless when Cher and Dionne were in gym class waiting for tennis lessons.

The Champion Select collection will be available January 26, 2015, in select Urban Outfitters stores in the United States and Canada, Space Ninety 8 in Brooklyn, as well as Urbanoutfitters.com. Consumers can follow the hashtag #ChampionSelect on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook to see behind the scenes content of how the designers created their collections.
