Miami: Day 1

Our first day in Miami was filled with adventure. Prior to our trip we all bought a Groupon voucher for a Catamaran boat trip - for only $17! For three hours, we were docked on a private island to enjoy water sports like paddle boarding and kayaking, or we could simply just enjoy the view.

Not pictured: me almost falling into the ocean.

The two pictures above are views of Star Island - a private residential area for celebrities only accessible by boat.

Later on that evening, we decided it was time to dig in to some authentic Cuban food. It's Miami, so it's definitely not hard to find. Just a few blocks away from home-away-from home, we found Yuca - an urban Cuban restaurant. We sat outside, enjoying the humid summer night while enjoying Paella and Yuca Rellena - oh and of course cocktails! The girls had mojitos while I enjoyed a tequila-based drink similar to a margarita. We each sampled each others dishes, family-style.
The prices are reasonable and Miami restaurants charge gratuity automatically, a big time and headache saver. Despite automatic gratuity, the service was excellent. I would recommend checking out Yuca on your trip to Miami for an upscale atmosphere with 3-star prices.
