#NYFW Recap - Garance Dore x Cointreau

During #NYFW, author, illustrator, and notably chic French girl Garance Doré teamed with Cointreau for a three-day pop up at Union Bar & Kitchen. I can't think of a better collaboration, with both parties bringing Parisian flair to The Big Apple.

You could have coffee, pastries, or simply lounge at the pop-up, but of course we decided to make our own cocktails.

The first step was deciding which ingredients I wanted to include. Since the weather was so lovely, I went with fresh berries and mint for a summery cocktail.

I had to be sure not to murder the fruit. I can be quite heavy handed and it was my first time using a muddler.

I made it fizz with seltzer and garnished with more fresh berries and ta-da! A beautiful cocktail appeared. Cointreau's most popular cocktail only uses three ingredients - Cointreau, of course, soda, and lime.

Cointreau is actually orange Triple-Sec, but unlike most liqueurs, it doesn't have to be mixed with liquor. They don't call it the "Unconventional French Spirit" for nothin'! The recipe remains the same since invention and it uses only natal ingredients.

These alluring faces printed on scarves were a stand out in the shop.

While we were there, we ended up catching Garance chat with jewelry designer Aurélie Bidermann. Talks with various designers and fashion influencers were given throughout the duration of the pop-up.

Max chose a lighter, more refreshing cocktail featuring cucumber, mint, and blueberries.

It was a very happy hour indeed.

There were also bartenders on hand for those who weren't interested in DIY-ing their libations. All of the pre-made drinks were Rickey cocktails. The Rickey is a highball drink made from gin or bourbon, half of a lime squeezed and dropped in the glass, and carbonated water. Little or no sugar is added to the rickey.

Thank you Cointreau and Garance Doré for the experience!
