Name an extreme sport and I bet trying to find a place to brunch in NYC will come up. Finding a restaurant that serves everyone’s favorite meal of the day comes a dime a dozen. Of course I’m always looking to try the latest Instagrammable spot, but once I tried FUMO in Harlem I knew it would be added to my list of favorites. And having a brunch go-to in my hood is priceless.
FUMO Pizzeria, located in the Hamilton Heights section of Harlem, is a gem simply put. I’ve dined here several times for brunch, lunch, and dinner and it never disappoints. But if it wasn’t obvious enough, the brunch selection here is my top choice.
When it’s beautiful and sunny in Harlem, dining at FUMO feels like you’ve been transported to a bistro in Sardinia. The bright, airy space is minimalistic and houses lush plants throughout. Here, I skip the mimosas and order a Paloma – a light, tequila-based cocktail. It pairs well with the FUMO Burger (pictured above) plus it’s pretty to look at.
There are Italian classics like Spaghetti Cabonara on the menu but the Southern girl in me can’t help but order chicken and waffles for brunch. But at FUMO, this isn’t your typical chicken and waffles. This dish is topped with fresh strawberries, oranges, and Vermont honey. The combination really makes the flavors pop.
Although I haven’t tried every single thing from the menu (yet), I’ve tried enough to know that you can’t go wrong with any of their options.
